MSD NEWS ITEMS!

What a busy spring it has been for Gerry and I. We are now the proud grandparents of a 1 year old and our family remains healthy and happy.

We have returned from CALLERLAB convention with good news about the future of square dancing. At least there is a plan on the horizon to help our activity regain the successes that it had in the past.

Back by popular demand, Tim Crawford will be calling our June 11 New Graduates Dance. That will be an all day affair. Plus dancing from 3:00-5:30 with a hot buffet dinner at 5:30PM. Then the evening dance to honor the New Grads from 7:00-10:00 PM This will be a ticket only dance due to the anticipated numbers. Rosina Wagenhoffer has graciously accepted our offer to cue rounds in the afternoon.

Our fifth anniversary Dance will be held July 9 with Red Bates calling our famous chicken barbeque dance. Please encourage new students to come and dance with us this summer.

Some Humor

The Time Is...

Every morning for years, at about 11:30, the telephone operator in a small Sierra-Nevada town received a call from a man asking the exact time.

One day the operator summed up nerve enough to ask him why the regularity.

"I'm foreman of the local sawmill," he explained. "Every day I have to blow the whistle at noon so I call you to get the exact time."

The operator giggled, "That's really funny," she said. "All this time we've been setting our clock by your whistle."

National Convention

Baltimore June 21-24 2000

Pick up your registration forms and sign up for the convention. Plenty of great dancing and lots of others things to do. Just ask someone that has been before. This is the closets the convention will be to our area for some time. Consider going.

There will also be some luncheon and dinner cruises. Gerry and I will be doing a luncheon on Friday for Silver Sounds. See us for more info.

Our condolences to Beth Denier and Family

Tom Denier was a friend of all of ours that will be missed. Both Tom and Beth supported our square dance activity and especially were supportive of Mainstream Dancers. They were charter members and were so encouraging to us when we started the club.
