Chuck Hardy had copies of the minutes from the September meeting. Minutes approved and
accepted as written. The treasurer's report was given as $79.50 in checking and $88.22 in
savings. A copy is included with the minutes. It was noted that dues run from September to
August. Dues are $10.00 each. We presently have nine members.
Gerry Hardy thanked Slim for his presentation and a vote was taken to have Slim continue his
presentation at next meeting.
There was no education chair report by Mickey but it was generally agreed the program by Slim
was successful and should continue. Slim Sterling will continue his presentation on Traditional
Square Dances for the next meeting. Meeting was scheduled for June 14, 1998, 3:00-4:30PM at
the Kingston Family Restaurant, Kingston, NY.
Chairman of the Beginners Ball on March 22, 1998 Herm Schimanke reported that the Our Savior
Lutheran Church Hall was secured for the dance. Insurance certificate for the church was to be
obtained from Callerlab by Herman. It was also agreed that Herman would send out postcards to
all members requesting that he be contacted if they would be participating in the March dance.
Chuck Hardy will supply mailing labels for postcards. Herman will furnish equipment for dance.
Flyers and tickets were distributed by Chuck.
A square dance shop had not been secured for the March 22 dance yet. Several shops were contacted and none were available. One more suggestion was to be investigated.
The question arose how we could better interface with the Hudson Valley Council. Chuck will try to approach the HVC about weather a delegate to HVC from CCHV would be appropriate. It was noted that Chuck & Gerry attend all HVC meetings as officers of Mainstream Dancers.
Helen Richardson raised the question of wether it would be possible to incorporate with the
Albany area callers association since they are not presently operating. It was generally agreed that
the CCHV was covering an area that was also serviced by HVC and too broad an area might be
ineffective.
Herman Schimake commented on the lack of calling opportunities that he has and what
suggestions would be for more opportunity. The group felt that networking and circulating a list
of the CCHV members might help.
Gerry again reiterated that meetings will be targeted to last about two hours. Slightly more with
an hour program before. Meeting adjourned at 5:10PM
Respectfully submitted by Chuck Hardy, recording secretary
